Biological Activity:
The ED50 was determined by its ability to inhibit IGF - II induced proliferation of MCF - 7. The expected ED50 for this effect is ≤ 0.2 μg/mL in presence of 15 ng/mL of human IGF - II.

Greater than 98% by SDS-PAGE gel and HPLC analyses.

Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per μg (1EU/μg).

Storage Conditions:
The lyophilized IGF-BP3 recombinant protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20°C. Reconstituted IGF-BP3 is stable for at least 3 months when stored in working aliquots with a carrier protein at -20°C. As with any protein, exposing IGF-BP3 recombinant protein to repeated freeze / thaw cycles is not recommended. When working with proteins care should be taken to keep recombinant protein at a cool and stable temperature.

Background:
IGF-BP3 is a 30 kDa cysteine-rich secreted protein. It is the major IGF binding protein present in the plasma of human and animals and it is also found in α-granules of platelets. In addition to its ability to modulate the activity of IGF-I and IGF-II, IGF-BP3 exerts inhibitory effects on follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) activity. Decreased plasma levels of IGF-BP3 often results in dwarfism, whereas elevated levels of IGF-BP3 may lead to acromegaly. The expression of IGF-BP3 in fibroblasts is stimulated by mitogenic growth factors such as Bombesin, Vasopressin, PDGF, and EGF. Recombinant human IGF-BP3 is a 28.8 kDa protein consisting of 264 amino acid residues.
