Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is an alpha subunit ofguanine nucleotide binding proteins (G proteins). The encodedprotein contains the guanine nucleotide binding site and isinvolved in the hormonal regulation of adenylate cyclase. Severaltranscript variants encoding different isoforms have been detectedfor this gene, but the full-length nature of only two are known sofar.
