Background:
This gene encodes a member of the glycerophosphodiesterphosphodiesterase enzyme family. The encoded protein hydrolyzesglycerophosphoinositol to produce inositol 1-phosphate andglycerol. This protein may have a role in osteoblastdifferentiation and growth. Alternate splicing results in multipletranscript variants.
