Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of abipartite UDP-N-acetylglucosamine transferase. It heterodimerizeswith asparagine-linked glycosylation 14 homolog to form afunctional UDP-GlcNAc glycosyltransferase that catalyzes the secondsugar addition of the highly conserved oligosaccharide precursor inendoplasmic reticulum N-linked glycosylation. Multiple transcriptvariants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
