Background:
Pyro-glutamic acid truncated amyloid beta 3-40/42 may have a greater propensity to aggregate under physiological conditions. In addition, this pyro E modification has been implicated as the molecular species responsible for seeding larger oligomers of amyloid-β. Pyro-glutamic acid truncated amyloid beta 3-40/42’s exact involvement in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease has not been established.
