Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of thesulfatase family. Sulfatases are essential for the correctcomposition of bone and cartilage matrix. This encoded protein ispostranslationally glycosylated and localized to the lysosome. Twotranscript variants encoding different isoforms have been found forthis gene.
