Recombinant Human Oncostatin-M/OSM Protein was determined by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions with Coomassie Blue.
At concentrations ranging from 0.01 to 5 ng/mL, M5 factor (86-065 IL1A,84-993 IL17A,85-654 IL22,85-170 TNFα,84-841 OSM)promotes the proliferation of HaCaT cells.
Measured in a cell proliferation assay using TF-1 Human erythroleukemic cells. The ED<sub>50</sub> for this effect is 0.76-3.04 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of 3.9×10<sup>5</sup>~1.31×10<sup>6</sup> units/mg.

Background:
This protein is a member of the leukemia inhibitory factor/oncostatin-M (LIF/OSM) family. The preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein. This protein is a secreted cytokine and growth regulator that inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. This protein also regulates the production of other cytokines, including interleukin 6, granulocyte-colony stimulating factor and granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor in endothelial cells.
