Background:
This gene encodes a protein which is similar in structureto hyaluronidases. Hyaluronidases intracellularly degradehyaluronan, one of the major glycosaminoglycans of theextracellular matrix. Hyaluronan is thought to be involved in cellproliferation, migration and differentiation. However, this proteinhas not yet been shown to have hyaluronidase activity. [provided byRefSeq].
