Goat
Species Reactivity:
Human
Immunogen:
Produced from sera of Goats pre-immunized with highly pure (>98%) recombinant hIL-1 beta. Anti-HumanIL-1beta specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.
Conjugate:
Biotin
Tested Applications:
ELISA, WB
Application Note:
Sandwich ELISA: To detect hIL-1 beta by sandwich ELISA (using 100 μl/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.25 – 1.0 μg/ml of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with ProSci’s Polyclonal Anti-Human IL-1 beta as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 – 0.4 ng/well of recombinant hIL-1 beta.
Western Blot
To detect hIL-1 beta by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hIL-1 beta is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Purification:
IL-1 beta specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated

Background:
IL-1 beta is a proinflammatory cytokine produced in a variety of cells, including monocytes, tissue macrophages, keratinocytes, and other epithelial cells. Both IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta bind to the same receptor and have similar, if not identical, biological properties. These cytokines have a broad range of activities including the stimulation of thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B cell maturation and proliferation, mitogenic FGF-like activity, and the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. However, whereas IL-1 beta is a secreted cytokine, IL-1 alpha is predominantly a cell-associated cytokine. Recombinant Human IL-1 beta is a 17.3 kDa protein containing 153 amino acid residues.
