Background:
This locus encodes a nuclear matrix protein. Mutations atthis locus have been associated with distal myopathy 2, which oftenincludes vocal cord and pharyngeal weakness. Alternatively splicedtranscript variants, including read-through transcripts with anupstream locus have been described. Related pseuodgenses have beendefined on chr1 and chrX.
