Background:
This gene encodes a member of the palmitoyl-proteinthioesterase family. The encoded glycosylated lysosomal protein haspalmitoyl-CoA hydrolase activity in vitro, but does not hydrolyzepalmitate from cysteine residues in proteins. Three transcriptvariants encoding different isoforms have been described for thisgene, with one of the isoforms being inactive. [provided byRefSeq].
