To detect Human RELM-beta by sandwich ELISA (using 100 ul/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5 - 2.0 ug/ml of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with ProSci’s Biotinylated Anti-Human RELM-beta (38-109) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 - 0.4 ng/well of recombinant Human RELM-beta.
To detect Human RELM-beta by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 ug/ml. When used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for recombinant Human RELM-beta is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
This antibody stained formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections of human colon/rectum adenocarcinoma. The recommended concentration is 1.0 ug/ml with an overnight incubation at 4°C. An HRP-labeled polymer detection system was used with a DAB chromogen. Optimal results for these conditions were achieved without antigen retrieval. Optimal concentrations and conditions may vary.

Background:
RELM beta, is a secreted protein, a probable hormone, expressed only in the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the colon. The biological functions of RELM beta and its molecular targets, are not fully known but, it has been suggested that it plays a regulatory role during inflammation and may also act to establish links among adipose tissue, the intestine and the liver. Interestingly the molecular structure of RELM beta is highly homologous to that of the adipose-derived cytokine Resistin and RELM alpha.
