Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of theSWI/SNF family of proteins, whose members display helicase andATPase activities and which are thought to regulate transcriptionof certain genes by altering the chromatin structure around thosegenes. The encoded protein is part of the large ATP-dependentchromatin remodeling complex SNF/SWI and has sequence similarity tothe yeast Swp73 protein. Two transcript variants encoding differentisoforms have been found for this gene.
