Background:
YY1 is a ubiquitously distributed transcription factorbelonging to the GLI-Kruppel class of zinc finger proteins. Theprotein is involved in repressing and activating a diverse numberof promoters. YY1 may direct histone deacetylases and histoneacetyltransferases to a promoter in order to activate or repressthe promoter, thus implicating histone modification in the functionof YY1.
